LIGHT the WORLD

I'm doing this with my family in December.
It's positive and fun and EASY. Visit Mormon.org to learn more, but the goal is essentially to follow the example of Jesus Christ, who is the light of the world (see John 8:12) in doing acts of service—25 ways over 25 days. This initiative will officially kick off on December 1st, the Worldwide Day of Service, then everyday leading up to Christmas there will be a short message focused on a different Christ-like behavior, with very doable ideas for how we can emulate Him.

For example, On December 3rd, the outline reads, "Jesus Helped Others to See and So Can You" Some ways to get involved:
1. Find an eyeglasses collection box and donate an old pair.
2. Point out a virtue in someone they don't see in themselves.
3. Promote a vision charity on social media. You could even use the eyeglasses emoji.

As you can SEE, these are not difficult tasks to add to an already busy time of year. Instead they are small efforts to help us realign our focus on caring, sharing, awareness and love.

Here's a PDF outline you can print!

There is so much good to be done and we can do it. The secret is to pray for guidance and to plan ahead—even just a day or two.

In Matthew 5:14 it reads, "Ye are the light of the world," and we are. We are a bunch of goofy, imperfect, impatient and mostly selfish people, but we are all that God has to do His work on earth and I know that even our inconsistent efforts make a difference, so I'm in. As we use these suggestions in our home, I'll be using the hashtag #LIGHTtheWORLD on social media. Now you'll know exactly what this means!
