Clark Day | 5.17

Honduras, May 2015 (click to enlarge)

Clark is coming home this weekend. Yay!! He will be taking the DAT (Dental Admissions Test) here in Spokane on June 2nd. His plan is to (hopefully) pass with flying colors and feel secure in his application process and options for dental school, beginning in the fall of 2018.  I'm feeling good about this plan because I will now have a dentist in the family to take really good care of my teeth in my old age! Clark first seriously considered dentistry—or some off shoot of it—as a career, over the Thanksgiving break in 2014. He was fresh off of his mission (where his first mission president was a retired dentist) and was taking a career exploration class. He talked and counseled with Geoff and felt after that weekend that he was on the right path. In the spring of 2015, he enjoyed the opportunity of joining a small group of dental students and pre-dental students on a trip to Honduras where he was able to SEE first hand the importance of adequate dental care. Every morning by 6:00am a very long line would form, made up of people from several neighboring villages. The facilities were not fancy—equipment and medication was sparse, but sufficient—but these young people, under the direction of two dentists, worked 14 hour days. These wonderful, humble people were so excited and grateful to be seen.

Clark is completing his junior year at BYU in Provo, Utah. His wife, Lauren just graduated and is now looking for a (better) job. She will pay the bills for now, so that Clark can prepare to be the primary bill payer in the future! Aside from some lingering (not critical) issues with this health, life is good (and FUN) for these young marrieds. I'm super proud of this boy and the life he is building.

Can't wait to see him!
